Merry Christmas to everyone! I hope you had a wonderful day today. Today was a day for spending time with my family and my wife’s family. It was great to see everyone again and spend time together.
Today was the day that I was concerned about the most this week. As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, I have found hitting my goal of 50 gram to be rather elusive so far. With the incredible side dishes and desserts, it wasn’t going to be easy. I made sure that breakfast was 0 carbs and had a couple of hard-boiled eggs before going to the in-laws for lunch. Once there I loaded up on ham, 5 crackers, and a couple of deviled eggs. Dessert time came and I just had one 7-layer cookie bar (one of my favorites that my sister-in-law makes every year). Not too bad heading into dinner.
Dinner was at the home of my sister and her husband. There was not going to be a dinner as such – just finger foods and desserts. We decided to bring a cream cheese ball with summer sausages, salami slices, and pepperoni slices. I figured that I could have 5 crackers with the spread on them and load up on the meat slices. That ended up being about the only thing I could have but it filled me up. It also meant that I might finish today under the 50-gram mark. I decided to go over the mark and had a half of a small cup of my dad’s eggnog. Very worth it.
So, I emerge from Christmas day with a total of 56 grams for the day! I am rather proud of myself for sticking to my plan for the most part in the face of some very tasty food offerings.
